For those of you who don’t know what parking day is - PARK(ing) Day is a annual open-source global event where citizens, artists and activists collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public places.
The theme chosen by Bespoke and the District was a creative exploration of 'left luggage'.
A Guerilla operation that began at 5:45am saw a duel parking bay along Leonard Issit Drive transformed into a usable temporary park space. An old cleaverly reconfigured Lada formed the ‘centre piece’. Converted into a comfortable (yet slightly snug) seating area – complete with turf seats.  Old ‘luggage’ bags were, filled with mulch, donated plants and reused as planters and seating, from these luggage tags were attached. The tags featured the tagline ‘I would be lost without my………’. Passers by were encouraged to utalise the space and fill out the tags in return for a bag of juicy (The District) jetplanes.
Dispite a rainy start the installation proved to be a great success, with many local businesses and staff utalising the space during breaks.
