Te Kaitaka success at the World Architecture Festival Awards

8/10/2014

The seventh annual  World Architecture Festival Awards have seen Auckland architects Fearon Hay gain wins in two categories, Display and Villa. The display category was won by the Te Kaitaka building for Auckland Airport, which Bespoke were fortunate enough to collaborate on for the landscape and urban areas of the project.

The building is a unique and exciting addition to the Auckland Airport business district, with its bold linear form that successfully addresses the street corners and draws in the adjacent plaza space.  The most striking features are its green roof and brass mesh ‘cloak’ that envelopes the building to two sides.

The jury commended the project, stating that it demonstrated “an impressive process and experimentation with form and materials, leading to a bold and striking tectonic statement in a bland business park environment.”

Bespoke would like to offer congratulations to Jeff, Tim and the team at Fearon Hay, it is an amazing accolade to be recognised at this level on the world stage for not only one, but two projects.  We would also like to congratulate Auckland Airport and the wider project team that were involved in bringing the Te Kaitaka project to reality.
