Workspace Hobsonville
Bespoke Landscape Architects were engaged by Neil Group to undertake concept design for a light industrial and commercial development ‘Workspace Hobsonville’. Situated on Hobsonville Road, 5min drive between both Westgate and the Hobsonville Point residential area, the project fuses a strong landscape aesthetic with a hierarchy of urban approaches across the development. At the south-western commercial corner a pedestrian dominant area forms the frontage to retail shops, by supplying minimal parking and high quality surface materials. This space also includes a mounded grass area giving protection for pedestrians from a busy Hobsonville Road as well as providing a greening of the hard landscape environment. In places of more traditional car parking these are broken down with landscape bands of mass planting in a north-south direction and supported vertically with avenues of trees. With such a landscape focused response the visual impact is significantly lessened and the amenity from Hobsonville Road greatly improved - this in comparison to a typical model of this typology of development.  In all a more cohesive overall development is achieved when the landscape is developed in tandem with the architectural intent.
