Zyandehrud Resort, Iran
The Zyandehrud project encompasses master planning for 700ha of new development land to form a new mixed use residential community in Esfahan, Iran. The development encompasses traditional and new forms of residential housing as well as a town centre, hotels, parks and lakeside recreational areas. The design process involved intensive landscape and urban analysis of the wider and immediate site context to consider the development impact and design direction as well as feasibility of transport and services. Intensive consultation and stakeholder engagement was carried out by way of workshop style charettes and the results of these fed directly into the master planning development. The resulting master plan features landscape and urban design driven solutions that respond strongly to the site context, creating strong connectivity and presenting the opportunity for a sense of community to grow and strengthen over time. In depth landscape strategies were presented that considered different strata’s and zones of landscape areas to offer a range of landscape experiences from the more traditional park like spaces to xeriscape zones that present the natural condition of the landscape and limit the requirement for intensive irrigation.
