Bespoke were engaged by Cappella Property from concept design through to detailed design for a feature playspace in their Oraha Estate subdivision. The playspace is designed to reflect Kumeu's horticultural heritage, with bee and beehive play elements, flower talking tubes and a material palette that pairs natural timber with steel and rope play elements for an overall unique playspace. Flowering specimen fruit trees are also included within the open grass area; their structured rhythm and pops of colour will provide contrast with the native bush backdrop. Central to the overall play experience is a large three-bay swing set that integrates standard swing seats alongside a thick coconut rope swing and basket swing. Rope play elements are also incorporated to provide important self-directed balancing, bouncing and climbing experiences. A combination of timber and concrete beams interact with planting and boulders to provide an additional playable edge experience to the informal grass area.
