WOODHAUGH GARDENS PLAYSPACE

The concept for Woodhaugh Gardens serves to give an indication of development potential, the range of activities, experiences and supporting elements appropriate for a destination level playspace facility. Mātauraka Kāi Tahu will inform the design outcomes of this play space, creating the opportunity for mana whenua values and stories to be integrated into the overall experience for tamariki and adults alike. The proposed approach focuses on embracing woodland and ecological potential for exploration play, with specific water play referencing Ōwheo (Water of Leith) that once flowed through this area including sculptural elements and references to riparian context. Place marker patterns, theming and concepts provide opportunity for cultural integration and will be further developed in partnership with Mana Whenua and Aukaha.
