THE LANDING DEVELOPMENT

The Landing represents Auckland Airport’s flagship development and a paradigm shift in the approach to creating a fabric for large scale commercial buildings. The master plan developed by James Lord of Surface Design Inc, offers a scale of landscape treatment previously unprecedented in this typology of development. Laid out in a strongly patterned form, these deeply landscaped streets, bordered with wide kerbs and quality paving materials, replace the typical narrow grass berms and tokenistic tree planting commonly associated with industrial precincts. Bespoke have been involved in a number of key commercial sites within this development area, where we have been tasked with extending the vision and principles of the master plan beyond the extents of the lease boundary and into the sites themselves. Car parking is strongly integrated into this structure, yard spaces are all screened from view and no unsightly fence lines permitted along the lease boundary with the street.
