Auckland Airport - 2013
TE KAITAKA PLAZA
Te Kaitaka Plaza at Auckland International Airport was designed with the key objective of becoming a new public space for The District Precinct and to work in conjunction with the new commercial and sales building - Te Kaitaka (The cloak – designed by Fearon Hay Architects). Bespoke's role included concept design, developed design, full construction documentation and site observation. The plaza is envisaged to be a safe, multi-functional, colourful and engaging urban space. The grassed banks, in-situ bar table and flexible cafe style seating provide a range of ways for people to occupy and take ownership of the space. Overall the plaza ties in well to the existing landscape of Leonard Issit Drive through the utilisation of planting palettes and material selections and set the standard for commercial development in the area. The project was completed and opened in early November 2013.
